Museum Show For The Talented Jewelry Artist Adam Neeley.
February 16 2024 to July 29 2024

We were commissioned to build the casework for Adam's upcoming show at the Laguna Art Museum in Laguna Beach California.

The contract consisted of:
10 each, 457mm x 457mm x 1457mm black museum pedestal cases,
10 each, 457mm x 915mm x 1610mm black museum pedestal cases,
1 each, Acrylic and Walnut Zig Zag wall system.

The pedestal cases had lift off clear acrylic tops, that were secured with snake-eye security screws. Inside featured two multi head 1 watt LED post lights, one set in 3000 Kelvin and the other set in 6000 Kelvin. These are wired under the 25mm thick MDF top board to the separate transformers and connected to a 6 meter long power cable. These cases also had a dark grey fabric covered 13mm thick display board to receive the jewelry holders, risers and busts. The cases were fabricated using 13mm thick MDF, with the top board having threaded inserts on two opposing sides to allow attachment of the tops that were fabricated using 6mm clear cast acrylic. The small cases have 4 adjustable feet the large cases have 6.

The Walnut and Acrylic Wall is an articulating "zig zag" assembly similar to vertical venetian blinds. Some of these vertical boards are connected to 50mm wide x 20mm thick walnut frames that receive the double sided black acrylic display boxes. The wall structure comprises of top and bottom rails fabricated using six layers of 50mm wide x 12mm thick walnut boards with their opposite ends having alternating convexed and concaved circles that allows the wall sections to interlock and articulate. The top and bottom rails are bolted to each vertical 100mm wide x 22mm thick boards that can pivot up to 50 degrease. These wall sections, after the acrylic boxes are removed (with the four interior screws) can be split into their sections and stored for transport in a custom Flight Case. The six acrylic boxes then are stored in a separate Flight Case.

The gloss black acrylic boxes are double sided, having a lift up clear acrylic door to opposing faces. They have a partition in the center made of MDF and fabric covered boards which also hide the power and lighting wires. Each side, floor area (also fabric board covered) houses an electronic lock, the Bluetooth lock controller board, and fingerprint reader (that is located through the box bottom), as well as a LED RF controller. The top of the doors hold a LED strip that are tunable color temperature from 3000 to 6500 Kelvin and fully dimmable. These are controlled from three, 4 channel RF remotes. Each box receives its 12v DC power from a plug in the top of the box above and hidden by the partition boards into the receiving frame. Frames are fed from a 12v DC LED Driver which is ceiling mounted, down a black stabilizer wooden tube and across the wall tops to one of the vertical boards above each box. A hole is drilled down the vertical board and into the frame top. This wire does not hamper the ability for the boards to pivot.

We also fabricated some rectangle and pyramid rises and angle boards, all drilled and fabric covered to receive the jewelry and other display items. These were mainly used in the pedestal cases.

The project was in the design phase for over two years, off and on. Most of the fabrication taking place in Fort Worth, Texas between December 2023 to January 2024. With installation started on February 06 2024. Taking about a week.
